Portable Google Chrome 3.0 for Windows Now Available for Download

PortableApps.com started to offer a portable version 3.0 of Google Chrome for Windows. So, now you can take the Chrome browsing experience with you.

The site offers a small application that downloads Google Chrome’s installer(Due to the licensing terms of Google Chrome), extract its files and installs a portable launcher. Then you can Copy the resulting folder to a USB drive and you can launch Chrome on multiple computers without leaving traces. That’s  really good part of this, using same portable version on multiple computers once downloaded & stored in USB devices.

How to Access & Activate Windows 7 Hidden Regional Countries Themes

Microsoft windows 7 has default 5 theme but Windows 7 beta 1 build 7000 onwards has several hidden & locked themes provided for regional countries such as Australia, Canada, Great Britain, United States and South Africa.

Since these hidden themes are installed along with your Windows 7 installation you can unlock/unhide these hidden Windows 7 Themes for regional contries.

If you want to enable these hidden themes, do the following:

  • First Show hidden files, folders, or drives and show the protected operating system files. [Go to Explorer -> Tools -> Folder options and select View tab]

  • Now navigate to C:\WindowsGlobalization\MCT. You will see the 5 theme folders, one each for Australia, Canada, Great Britain, USA & South Africa.

  • Double Click on the .theme file inside each to the Themes folders to activate the themes.

How To Use BitTorrent to Download Torrents | Step by Step Guide for Beginners

I do not know how to start a Torrent, search for a torrent or download a torrent because I Know Nothing at all about Torrents and would like to know if you can help me, Please?

So, here is a step by step tutorial to

1. Download and Install a BitTorrent Client

2. Find and Download a File

Download and Install a BitTorrent Client

  • Click on Save File.
  • When the download is finished, go to BitComet Setup(.exe File) double-click on it.
  • Click Run, Ok, Next, I Agree, I Agree, Next and Install. The program will install. Click Finish. The program will start up.

Find and Download a File

  • Click on the text field near the top left of the page, and type in your desired ebook, game name etc. Click Search.
  • You will be taken to a search-results page.
  • You will probably see a page like this, with a mix of files with different sizes.
  • Click on the name (widest column) of a torrent that sounds good. That row will expand to display some ads, a Download .torrent link, and information about the files that the torrent links to. Click on the Download .torrent link.

To the right you see a number of Seeds and Leechers for each Torrent. A Seed is a user who has the whole file and is sharing it. A Leecher is someone who, like you, is in the process of downloading the file.

So you’ll want to pick a version of the file that has lots of Seeds and Leechers, so that the download is faster and more certain to be successful.

  • If you have never downloaded a torrent before, a window will pop up, asking what you want to do with this file. Choose “Open with BitComet”, check “Do this automatically for files like this from now on” or “Always use this program to open similar files”.
  • BitComet should open automatically and ask you if you want to download this file. Click OK.
  • Wait patiently for the file to download. When it’s done, the file will be in the C:Downloads folder.

Looking on Common File Extensions

  • If the file is a .MP3, .RM then it is an audio file which you can play in a music player.
  • If the file is a .AVi, .MP4, etc, then it is a movie file you can watch on your computer or transfer to a DVD, iPod, PSP, etc.
  • If the file ends with .RAR or .ZIP, then it’s basically a kind of archive ZIP file, and you need to decompress it using WinRAR.
  • If the file ends with VOB, ISO, CUE/BIN, or if it’s a VIDEO_TS folder, then it can be burned onto a DVD for viewing on a DVD player.

Remember, downloading media on BitTorrent is illegal.

1. Open Firefox & Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. So, Double click all those entries to Enable them.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0“.
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Facebook Users – Beware of Zbot Email Phishing

Facebook users can fell a prey to a new wave of malicious emails that target Facebook users by sending messages falsely claiming that a fresh login system is being implemented, directs people to a phishing site and also attempts to infect them with malware.

The emails, coming from @facebookmail.com addresses. says,

In an effort to make your online experience safer and more enjoyable, Facebook will be implementing a new login system that will affect all Facebook users. […] Before you are able to use the new login system, you will be required to update your account.


This phishing has two different types of attacks into one.

First, there is a phishing component, which attempts to trick Facebook users into exposing their login credentials.

Visiting the included link will take users to a fake Facebook login page, where their email address is already filled in and they have to input their passwords. Once someone falls victim to the phishing trick, they are redirected to yet another page that encourages them to download a malicious file.

Second, The file is called updatetool.exe is in fact a malware and is advertised as an official Facebook utility for upgrading accounts. In reality, this executable installs a new version of the Zeus banking trojan, detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_ZBOT.CDX.( Image Credits: Devils Workshop, trendmicro)

This is a nice example cybercriminals can be just to steal precious information & infect your system from malwares. Don’t be just another victim.

How to Add “Save as PDF or XPS Format” Option to all 2007 Microsoft Office Programs

Microsoft Office 2007 allows you to save files in many formats. But the only feature it lacks is Saving files in the PDF Format. So, there ia a very nice way to add “Save as PDF or XPS Format” as one of the Inbuilt option to all the programs packed in Microsoft Office 2007.

If you are using Microsoft Office 2007, you can add this free add-in from Microsoft for saving files as PDF or XPS. This add-in is supported in Windows Server 2003; Windows Vista; Windows XP Service Pack 2.


It also allows you to send as e-mail attachment in the PDF and XPS formats in a subset of these programs.

Once installed it will allow you to save files as PDF or XPS in all eight 2007 Microsoft Office programs:

  • Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007
