How to Use Gmail in Offline Mode? Google Gears makes it so

Gmail is the most widely used  popular email service after its launch in 2004. Now you can use Gmail with its extented ability to be accessed in the offline mode(when your network is not connented to Internet) with the arrival the Google Gears plug-in for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Yes, Offline Gmail. So even if you’re offline, you can open your web browser, go to gmail.com, and get to your mail just like you’re used to.

How this Works?

Once you turn on this feature after installing Google Gears, Gmail uses this to download a local cache of your mail. As long as you’re connected to the network, that cache is synchronized with Gmail’s servers. When you lose your connection, Gmail automatically switches to offline mode, and uses the data stored on your computer’s hard drive instead of the information sent across the network. You can read messages, star and label them, and do all of the things you’re used to doing while reading your webmail online. Any messages you send while offline will be placed in your outbox and automatically sent the next time Gmail detects a connection. Having your mail on your hard drive makes fast work of archive searches that can take several seconds when interacting with Gmail’s servers.

What to do to use Offline Gmail?

After you install Gears, you’ll see an Offline option under the Labs tab in Gmail’s Settings. Choose the Enable button, and when you restart your browser, you’ll see an “Offline 0.1″ link in the top-right corner of the main Gmail window. Click this link to begin the installation. (You’ll also be prompted to download and install Gears, if you don’t already have it on your PC.)

After the initial sync completes, click the Offline icon to the left of the Settings button to check your online status and view your options (choose Show Actions to see all available options).

Offline Feature of Gmail Helps

  • Mail searches become more faster
  • More Fast Archives Searches
  • Speedy Accessibility of Mails

Note: Gmail’s offline capability is still experimental & may not work sometimes as expectations.

Top 3 Ways to Tweet More Than 140 Characters | Now Twitter more without Limits

Twitter, started in March 2006, has grown into a real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices. But one of the few irritating things about Twitter is the limit of 140 characters per tweet. It becomes extremely hard especially when you try to share a link with your Twitter friends and followers. In such a case, you need to summarize your feelings to fit 140 characters.

So, here are the top 3 ways to tweet more than 140 characters every time.

[1] txtB.in allows you to share text data with anyone in the world in two steps. You enter the text into the text field and hit the save txt button. It then gives you a shortened URL that you can share with your friends to read this text. Absolutely no restriction on the character size.

[2] tweetasaur.us is an online free service where you can type as many characters as you want. Your tweet will be broken up into 140 character chunks and posted to your account in small increments. Here you can see how easy is to use tweetsaur.us to twitt your “extra-large” messages.

[3] Twitzer from shorttext.com, is a Firefox extension for Twitter that will short tweets that seem to cross the 140 limit. When you type your “extra long” tweet message in the Twitter box then twitzer addon shorten with a simple right click. Twitzer truncates only some part of your message and replaces it with a link to the full message, helping in twitting without any limitation of 140 charcters only.
