In today’s world of technology, social media has become a major tool for businesses, celebrities and high-profile persons. Social media helps companies and individuals influence and share information with their customers and followers. If you know how to deploy social media effectively, it can inure to your personal or company’s benefit. Unfortunately, just like the gold rush, people have jumped onto the social media bandwagon. This has left many businesses and entrepreneurs disappointed. They are not experiencing success with social media.

The social media space is now getting crowded

Presently, there are so many of them available that you can get confused as to which ones to adopt and use. The popular ones we know are Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Digg, YouTube, Reddit, StumbeUpon, Yahoo Buzz, Yelp, Technorati, SlideShare, Scribd, Del.icio.us, LinkedIn and more recently, Google+. There are also less popular ones like DeviantArt, Epinions, Kaboodle, IMBD, Fark, Adobe Showcase, etc. Compared to the number of social media sites and tools that are churned out almost on a daily basis, this is a very short list. It is therefore no wonder that people get frustrated in the social media space.

How then do you thrive in the social media space?

Here is a proven guideline that will help you thrive in the social media space:

1. Understand social media basics and which platforms to choose

You cannot thrive in a terrain you don’t understand or are not familiar with. You must know the purpose of social media and its significance to your business or personal brand. Additionally, you must choose which social media platforms to work with. It wouldn’t be productive on your part to have about twenty social media platforms. Usually, about two to five will be sufficient for your needs.

2. Have clear objectives with deadlines

It is not enough to set up accounts with different social media sites. You must have clear objectives such as the following:

Add social media content to increase website traffic by 30% by the end of June 2012.

Acquire 200 new donors through Facebook by August 2012.

Increase email list sign-ups to 1000 through social media channels by October 2012.

3. Have a specific plan to achieve your objectives

Once there are clear objectives, you need to have specific plans to execute them. For example, what do you have to do on a daily or weekly basis to ensure that you increase your email-sign ups to 1000 by October 2012?

4. Adopt best practices for effective results

To thrive in the social media space, you do not need to re-invent the wheel. Learn from the experts and adopt their strategies. But this should be done advisedly. You do not need to apply everything hook, line and sinker. Adopt only what will apply to your audience or industry.

5. Produce relevant content on a consistent basis

If your content is not relevant, you can’t succeed in the social media space. Also, never run out of content since thriving in the social media space is a process and not an event.

6. Analyze and measure your results

If you are not analyzing and measuring your social media efforts, you may not know how your efforts are paying off. There are social media tools that will help in this direction. The right tools will help interpret your social media metrics. With this, you can adopt new strategies or continue with your existing social media strategy.

If you will consistently follow these guidelines, you will begin to see some results over time. Your dream to thrive in the social media space will then become a reality.

I’m sure all of you have had this experience at one point or another on the internet: You’re searching Google for something specific (say “3mm Blue Zircon 14kt Yellow Gold Prong Set Labret”), expecting some high quality websites filled with lots of opinions, advice, and less redundant information. However, the end result is that you find a bunch of poor-looking pages with redundant or useless information. The sites seem sketchy, deceptive, and perhaps even a bit surreal. Things don’t really make sense.

This is because your search, although it was specific and long-tail, has been dominated by sites employing blackhat SEO techniques. These techniques include:

Spamming low-quality articles on link-building portals, sometimes known as directories, publishers, and the like.

Article spinning – similar to spamming but involves rearranging words in articles with software so that Google doesn’t detect it as spam.

Keyword stuffing – jamming content full of keywords intended to target specific search results, resulting in low quality, unreadable articles.

Cloaking – giving different content to Google’s search engine spider than the actual content on the site for the purpose of appearing higher in quality than in actuality.

There are many other techniques, some which combine all of the above techniques as well as a few other complicated maneuvers such as re-posting comments and tweets from other sites to appear like a legitimate site with lots of user-input.

Why You Should Avoid Using Blackhat SEO Techniques

There are a variety of reasons not to use blackhat SEO techniques. One is that it decreases the end-user experience of everyone on the internet. People are less likely to trust search results, trust websites, and may even surf the web less as a result. This decreases the value of searches for everyone.

It also gives the term and profession SEO a bad reputation. When people get search results to horrible quality websites filled with spam or terrible content, they assume that this is the result of SEO specialists. Budding SEO specialists may see these techniques and view them as effective, thus increasing the amount of spam and valueless content on the internet and in search results.

The most compelling reason to avoid blackhat SEO techniques is because their effectiveness is always temporary. Sometimes they won’t work at all. And when they do work, it is only a matter of time before Google wizens up, adjusts their search algorithm, and punishes those sites with blackhat SEO techniques by decreases their search ranks exponentially. And then all that effort you put into blackhat techniques was for nothing (or at most, a year or two of successful search results). This is why it is much more effective to try to do something real and actually valuable in your online marketing. You will attract a loyal audience, and your traffic won’t ever vanish because of a Google update.

Why You Shouldn’t Avoid Blackhat SEO Altogether

While I don’t want any of you to copy or emulate blackhat SEO techniques, it is important to read up and analyze current blackhat trends. Many blackhat techniques have close relationships to other whitehat techniques. For instance, article spamming is similar in concept to guest posting. The difference is that, in guest posting, you write unique articles and aim for high quality content so that people actually click the link back to your blog.

For this reason, I advise you not to completely ignore blackhat SEO. Read about it, research it, study it, and understand it. Think creatively about how these techniques can be adjusted and refined to become more ethical, whitehat techniques. Then once Google lays down the hammer on the sites employing a certain blackhat technique, your whitehat parallel of that technique will probably still be helping your site out.

In order to improve the ranking of your website’s search engine you can build back links to the website. These back links are the hyperlinks and they should be the “do-follow” links. The more back links that your website has more people will trust the site. If there are people like you, they may like and even comment on your blog. So your blog becomes an interactive community where like minded people can interact and share their opinions.

There are plenty of advantages of owing the Do-Follow Blogs. The conversations that happen on the blog can turn into professional relationships. Thus this will lead to greater promotion and association that people will have with your blog.

People sharing similar opinions can write and thus the blogger also gets different point of views and opinions.

Encourage People

If you are thinking as to how will you encourage people to write and leave there comments, then remember that you can do so by giving them a reward in the form of a back link.

Most of the blogs are no-follow by default. In blogs, there is a small comment box that is right at the bottom of the blog. These boxes should give you the option of a small checkbox, where you can enable the back links. You will have to write here in the format of YourName@Yourkeywords.

Risk

The major risk that you have here is from the Spam-comments. They are irritating and annoying and at the same time they can also cause negative publicity for your blog. In fact this can also affect the PageRank that you have on the search engine.

In order to solve this problem of spamming, you can take help of the plug-ins like the Spam Karma, which do the outstanding work of filtering the comments which are spam. And along with this regular monitoring will be required from your side. This might sound a little tedious, but this is important.

Types of Do-Follow niche blogs

There is a different category of the Do- Follow Blogs that the major heads under which they are categorized are as follows:

Advertising

Arts

News

Sports

Travel

Health

Shopping

Business

Encourage writing

In order to increase the comments on these blogs, you can post questions from time to time. This will invite a lot of replies. You should also make sure that you reply to the queries that people write. And they should feel satisfied with your replies.

Make the comment section, a communication place where responses are welcomed and acknowledged.

Also highlight the readers, who make the most frequent comments. This will provide great encouragement. The response that you write on the comments should be as polite as possible.

Conclusion

The Do-Follow Blogs are a very useful social media opportunity. The freedom of expression and choice is
enabled here. Thus, this should be used in the best possible manner to increase the publicity.

When we talk about ranks in search engines like Google or Bing with quality blogs and content we know, the roles of links is very important. Though people embark with excellent content development, they hardly know how to rank them in any search engine through creating quality links. Nowadays, guest blogging has become a very powerful tool in blogosphere which can be used to market the blogs. The best part of guest blogging is that it proves to be a great tool to build high quality backlinks to any blog. This article discusses about a few effective ways or tips of using this idea of guest blogging for building great back links for your blogs.

Look for related blogs as per your niche

If you want to yield the best bet from your guest blogging endeavor, you are required to build high quality backlinks and these come from the related Blogs. Rather than trying each and every blog, you need to find the relevant blogs as much as possible which is somewhere near to your niche or speak about the same issue which you do. If you fail to find any of these types of blog over the internet, then it’s time to try something in guest blogging. You are therefore required to develop or write contents for unrelated blogs, however, ensure that the content you have is unique in its spin and covers both the niches together. You have different ways of searching a relevant blog of your niche, and the best way of doing this is to use directories of blog like Technorati with the help of Google Blog search engine. You can also try things through the famous guest blogging community called MyBlogGuest.

Develop quality content

Content is the king. So once you find out the blog of your choice to contribute the articles, it’s important to create excellent contents. Avoid sending anything absurd or junk; rather, come up with high quality contents which can make the difference. Generally, people call this as an exercise of futility, since they are more interested in getting the backlinks. Any absurd content is likely to lose the page ranking by the search engines.

Optimizing your Bio

Once you discover the right blog and develop excellent content relevant to the readers, it’s the time to take the next step. Your next step would be to capitalize or reap the benefits from your bio. As your bio is the place where you can promote or advertise yourself and gain more quality backlinks. Therefore it’s time now you make use of your anchor text effectively. This will therefore increase your ranking in the search engine.

Final word

Traffic is something which is very important for any blogger. They thrive on traffic the more the traffic, the more the readers they will have for their blog. And without any traffic the content over the blog goes useless which eventually means no money at the end of the day. And this becomes possible by using the tactics of guest blogging and therefore building high quality backlinks. Building good backlinks through guest blogging has become a hotcake for many bloggers these days. They are experimenting around this idea and managing to improve their ranking in the popular search engines. So if you still find this concept new but want to improve your rankings in the search engines, don’t waste time, get up and explore this idea and pull more traffic through guest blogging.

Some of the notions were discussed which is to be implemented in the next version of Ubuntu Linux, an important change was the “grub2-as-default”. Colin Watson had the pleasure to announce that GRUB 2 would definitely be the default boot loader in Ubuntu 9.10 with EXT4 as the default filesystem in the daily builds of Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala).

In the official announcement, Colin Watson said

As of tomorrow’s daily builds (assuming they build successfully, anyway), GRUB 2 will be the default boot loader for new installations, pursuant to the grub2-as-default discussion at UDS.

We do not expect to be changing the boot loader for existing installations, at least not at this time; this is an inherently risky operation. (Remember that we don’t even automatically reinstall the boot loader when we upgrade to new versions of GRUB Legacy, let alone when changing to a complete reimplementation.)

This is the major replacement over the old Grub boot loader which was used continuously for the previous versions of Ubuntu.

GRUB2 provides:

Support for newer systems

Scripting support

Internationalization support

A new way to number partitions

Improved memory management

Cross-platform installation support

Graphical user interface

Portable and many more

I just stumbled on a site that is able to make free calls from PC to phone. Perhaps there are other better site or method to make calls from PC to phone, but this is something I just happen to know when checking out some forums and thought of sharing it with all of you.

To be able to call from PC to phone, they’d have to use VoIP service. Voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) is a protocol optimized for the transmission of voice through the Internet or other packet-switched networks.

The VoIP Technology

VoIP is often used abstractly to refer to the actual transmission of voice (rather than the protocol implementing it). VoIP allows users to use regular telephone networks anywhere through any internet service provider, and avoids issues on long distance charges that are normally subject to callers. This latter concept is also referred to as IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband, broadband telephony, and broadband phone. I’ve tested calling my land line and even my cellphone, both rang!
EvaPhone provides Internet telephone calls for free. Our site offers free VoIP call solutions: free VoIP service lets you make PC-to-phone free international calls. All you need is a computer to start making free VoIP calls using Internet to phone. Start enjoying the benefits of Internet telephony right now! Visit EvaPhone

How to use EvaPhone ?

Using EVAPHONE is as easy as ABC. You need to enter www.evaphone.com in your browser and call the number you need. That’s all! Now you see its really easy. As long as you have a computer with a broadband connection and flash player 9.0 or higher installed, you can use EVAPHONE to make calls from your PC. Don’t need to install any third party software. It is advisable to have headset to avoid echo. When you want to call a number from your PC, you need to watch a short advertisement first before it’ll connect you through.

I believe that’s how they are able to provide free calls from PC to phone. However, after calling a few times for free, you’ll get the message “Your free call limit is exceeded for today. Would you like to register?” and “Call limit is exceeded for your IP”. There’s a saying that goes “there is no free lunch in this world” and that is quite true. You can use EVAPHONE to call land line or cellphone for free but with time and call limit. Calling some countries can only last a few seconds but for calling United States can go up to 6 minutes! You can refer to this list on the free call duration. The free call is not really for chatting because of the call limitation but would be useful if you’re lazy to text using SMS and want to let your friend or family know about something immediately. It could also fun to prank your friends phone number if you have dynamic IP address.
